Continuing Education: Thoracic Spine

CE- Physiotherapy Thoracic SpinePhysiotherapy for the Thoracic Spine

My first ever day in Wollongong was spent at Phyxit Physio & Injury Clinic, where I attended a one day course titled Thoracic Spine in Sport.
Dr Henry Wajswelner, who is a specialist sports physiotherapist, former AIS and Australian Olympic team physiotherapist, presented the course.

We had an in-depth review of the anatomy of the thoracic spine, then an update of the assessment required when investigating the thoracic spine before looking at the specific biomechanics of sports injury, and advanced assessment skills when assessing the sporting population.

The afternoon was spent looking at manual treatment skills in regard to the thoracic spine, before moving onto specific exercise prescription strategies. We finished the day off discussing some specific case studies that Henry provided.

Overall it was a good day, and I have integrated a lot of the assessment and treatment strategies from the day into my daily practice. The food provided was also spot-on, an important part of any physio course!
